Top 10 Signs You’re a Web Designer

Top 10 Signs You’re a Web Designer

Today we’re channeling David Letterman with a Top 10 List. (Are we aging ourselves??) Here are the top 10 signs that you’re a web designer:

10. You’re more proficient with Photoshop than Word. Microsoft Office? Who needs it.  You’re a web designer.

9. You’re a master at keyboard shortcuts, but type with two fingers. (See number 10 above!)

8. You’re constantly learning new skills. It’s an ever-evolving industry and any good web designer has got to keep up. So what if sometimes you spend a Friday night brushing up on the latest WordPress plugins?

7. You occasionally miss meals because you get lost in a new project for hours on end. Is it Tuesday?

6. You speak several languages, including Java and PHP.

5. You’re creative.

4. You enjoy discussing SEO and sometimes try to figure out the “keywords” in a conversation before you realize there are none!

3. You judge a company based on its website. Going to dinner and look up the menu first? You can tell from the Flash design that their site hasn’t been updated in years. So you pick another place to eat. It’s like shag carpet to an interior designer. It hurts the eyes.

2. Similarly, you’ve eaten at a restaurant and remember when you see the menu that you designed it. (This actually happened – we designed the menus at The Warren Tavern in Boston’s Charlestown neighborhood.)

And the final sign that you’re a web designer:

1. You’ve been asked by a client to make the logo bigger! Don’t worry we’ve all been asked and we’re happy to make the change. But know that it is a running joke among web designers!
