Content Optimization Tips For Your Website’s Blog

The content on your website tells search engines and by extension visitors to your site what your website and business are all about. Therefore, content optimization is the process of ensuring that the text on your website is both compelling and also easily translated into a Google search.

Remember yesterday when we said the first part of SEO was to determine specific keywords for your website? Well, content optimization puts those keywords to good use. The first goal should always be to deliver useful, informative content. Use of keywords is secondary, but both are important for content optimization. Today, we’re going to discuss content optimization as it relates to your website’s blog.

The best way to continually provide potential visitors with new, relevant content is through a blog. Having a blog is like inviting potential customers over for coffee on a regular basis. It’s your chance to connect with future and existing customers regularly in a comfortable setting. It allows you to anticipate and answer questions they may have about your industry and engage in an exchange of ideas.

A blog post is like a virtual coffee date

Good content optimization allows for natural use of your keyword phrases in blog content that is relevant and useful to your visitors. It used to be that you could just weave your keywords in multiple times and increase your SEO ranking. Now, Google sees that as spamming.

Stuffing a blog post with keywords is the equivalent of having coffee with your neighbor and trying to make sure you say a specific keyword six times during the conversation. They’d think you had some sort of verbal tic! So it’s important to make sure that your blog posts provide relevant content. We try to write ours to be equal parts educational and entertaining. (Sometimes that ratio is more like 80-20!)

Remember, your blog will drive visitors to your site to find answers to their questions. For example, someone might Google “How Much Does a Website Cost?” and our blog post addressing this topic might appear in their search results. They’ll click on that post to get the answer to their question. But we’re hoping that once they’re on our site, they’ll also look around.

So, once you’ve answered their question, you’ll also want to include a call to action in each of your blog posts – “Give us a call,” “Check out our services page,” etc. Don’t forget to convert visitors into customers! That’s perhaps the most important aspect of content optimization in our view!

So, of course, now we can’t help shamelessly plugging our services: if you’re looking for a new website or to redesign your current site, give us a call and we’ll help you build something awesome!
